Privacy Policy
Last updated 1 September 2026
This policy explains what personal information Sur Bathiang Recording Studio collects, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We are a recording studio in Shillong, Meghalaya, and the information we hold is almost entirely the practical detail needed to book and deliver recording work.
Who we are
Sur Bathiang Recording Studio, Kenchs Trace, Shillong 793004, Meghalaya, India. For any question about this policy or your information, contact info@surbathiang.com or call +91 94361 04733.

A note on website statistics
We do not use Google Analytics, advertising trackers, or any third-party analytics service, and this website sets no tracking cookies. Our statistics come from our own web server's logs.
We do not store your IP address. It is converted into a one-way hash with a secret that changes daily, which lets us count returning visits within a single day without keeping anything that identifies you or your device. Your IP address is used momentarily to determine your country, then discarded.
Recordings and creative work
Recordings we make for you belong to you. We keep session files so that we can return to a project, produce further mixes, or supply replacement copies. We do not publish, license, distribute, or share your recordings with anyone else without your permission. If we would like to use an excerpt as a sample of our work, we will ask you first.
Who we share information with
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. It is disclosed only to the service providers that make this website and studio run:
- Meta Platforms — WhatsApp messages pass through and are stored on WhatsApp's infrastructure, under Meta's own privacy terms, as well as on our systems.
- Amazon Web Services — email we send you is delivered through Amazon SES, and our website and studio systems are hosted on AWS servers.
- Google — this page and our home page load typefaces from Google Fonts, and our contact section embeds a Google Map. Both involve a request to Google's servers from your browser.
- Accountants and regulators — where we are legally required to produce financial records.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become bookings — up to two years, in case you come back to us.
- WhatsApp conversations — kept while you remain a customer, and for two years afterwards.
- Project and payment records — retained as long as Indian tax and accounting rules require.
- Website statistics — aggregate counts only; nothing that identifies an individual visitor is retained.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct anything wrong, or delete information we no longer need to keep. You can ask us to stop messaging you at any time, and you can block our WhatsApp number from your own phone. See Deleting Your Data for how to ask, or write to info@surbathiang.com and we will respond within 30 days.
Some information we cannot delete on request — financial records we are required by law to retain, for example. If that applies we will tell you which records and why.
Keeping it safe
This website and our studio management system are served over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to customer records is limited to studio staff, each with their own account, and actions taken in the system are logged. No system is perfectly secure, but we take the care you would expect of a business holding your contact details and your music.
Children
We record artists of all ages, and often work with school and church groups. Where a performer is under 18, we deal with a parent, guardian, or the organisation arranging the session, and we do not knowingly collect contact details directly from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes affecting existing customers will be told to you directly.
